OVERSEAS Filipinos or their families who are based in Quezon and other nearby Luzon provinces may now apply for Apostille at the DFA Consular Office (DFA-CO) in Lucena City.

OVERSEAS Filipinos or their families who are based in Quezon and other nearby Luzon provinces may now apply for Apostille at the DFA Consular Office in Lucena City.

Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas, transcript of records, licenses issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission licenses, and National Bureau of Investigation clearances. Countries abroad require that public documents presented to them are authentic. The Filipino applicant can go to the DFA-OCA to authenticate their document. The applicant is no longer required to go to embassies or consulates of the country requiring the document, except for countries which are not signatory to the Apostille Convention and those that still object to the Philippine accession.

DFA Assistant Secretary Adelio Cruz said the Apostille Receiving Center in DFA Lucena can receive applications for Apostille. DFA CO-Lucena will then transmit the request to the DFA headquarters in Aseana along Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City for processing. The Apostille Receiving Center is located at the third level of Pacific Mall in Lucena City.
