An 86-year-old American drowned in a beach in Barangay 2, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, August 28.
The 86-year-old victim was a resident of Kansas and temporarily residing in a resort in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. Police Capt. Jose Michael Muñez, deputy chief of the Sipalay City Police Station, said the victim and his friend visited Sipalay and had lunch at the beach front. His friend tried to help him but failed. The victim was declared dead in a hospital.
Police are getting in touch with victim’s family through his friend to enable them to claim his remains.Two fishermen stranded for hours at sea after their boat encountered engine trouble were rescued in the sea of Dumangas, Iloilo on Wednesday.Commander Jansen Benjamin, head of Philippine Coast Guard -northern Negros Occidental, said they went fishing on Tuesday night, August 27, in the sea of Guimaras and Pulupandan, Negros Occidental.
A fishing boat sighted them in the sea of Dumangas and rescued them and towed their boat back to this city.
