OCTA Research, a prominent Philippine polling firm, has issued a public statement refuting the authenticity of fabricated survey results circulating online. The results, claiming to predict the outcome of the 2025 Davao City mayoral and vice mayoral elections, were falsely attributed to OCTA Research. The organization emphasizes that their official survey findings are exclusively released through their website and X (formerly Twitter).

OCTA Research, a reputable polling firm in the Philippines, issued a public warning about the circulation of fake survey results attributed to them. The fabricated results, primarily circulating on social media platforms like Facebook, purported to show the outcome of the 2025 mayoral and vice mayoral races in Davao City.

These results claimed that former Civil Service Commission chairperson Karlo Nograles was leading the mayoral race with 71% public support, while Davao City First District Councilor Bernie Al-ag was ahead in the vice mayoral race with 80%. OCTA Research vehemently denied any association with these falsified surveys, emphasizing that their official survey results are released exclusively through their website and X (formerly Twitter). The organization stated that they had become aware of the fabricated surveys and were actively taking steps to address the spread of misinformation. They urged the public to rely solely on official channels for accurate information regarding their surveys. OCTA Research's warning underscores the growing concern over the proliferation of fake news and the importance of discerning credible sources. The fabricated survey results have fueled speculation and debate about the upcoming Davao City elections. Five candidates are vying for the mayoral position: Rodolfo Atenen Cubos, Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Jonathan Mendoza Julaine, Karlo Alexei Bendigo Nograles, and Joselito Uy Tan. Meanwhile, four candidates are running for vice mayor: Bernard Echaves Al-Ag, Richard Antonio Alcebar, Sebastian Zimmerman Duterte, and Rhodora Soriano Barcena. The race between Nograles and his running mate Al-Ag versus the Duterte family, particularly the father-son tandem, is seen as a key contest in the upcoming election. The Nograles and Duterte families have a long-standing political rivalry in Davao City, dating back to the 1990s. While their relationship temporarily eased when Nograles endorsed Rodrigo Duterte's 2016 presidential bid, it deteriorated after the 2022 elections
