The Liberal upper house ticket is yet to officially be finalised, but the ABC understands Ms Gibbons has secured a position after internal party negotiations.Last year Ms Gibbons announced she was quitting state politics to run for the federal seat of Hughes after being encouraged to do so by former prime minister Scott Morrison.
Minister Natalie Ward's preselection loss caused controversy in the party surrounding a push for women candidates.
