Canterbury Bankstown mayor Khal Asfour tells committee he’s had a ‘target on my back’ since the pandemic
Asfour said Mihailuk’s complaints had been referred to the corruption watchdog more than 10 years ago, and were thrown out.
The council also paid for Asfour to study for an MBA, which the mayor said fell within the guidelines of the council’s professional development policy that allowed councillors to claim up to $3,000 in education a year. “If the claim was paid two weeks later, it would not have been a breach. So the breach was technical in nature,” he told the inquiry.
