THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday that it is closely monitoring cloud formations that may develop into a low pressure area (LPA).

'We are closely monitoring these cloud clusters that are forming over the eastern section and we are not ruling out the possibility that it will develop into an LPA in the next few days,' weather specialist Obet Badrina said.Meanwhile, Signal No. 1 is up in Batanes as Typhoon Hanna has yet to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility .

The typhoon is expected to exit in the next six to 12 hours, Pagasa said.Moving south-southwest, the typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.Pagasa said the enhanced southwest monsoon will continue to bring gusty conditions especially in coastal and upland/mountainous areas.'It will continue to bring rain especially over Northern and Central Luzon and Metro Manila over the next few days,' Badrina said.
