SEVERAL gates of at least three major dams, including the Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan have been opened to discharge excess water brought about by the southwest monsoon rains enhanced by Typhoon 'Falcon.'

From two gates on Wednesday, five more were unlocked at the Ambuklao Dam in Benguet on Thursday while four more for a total of six gates were opened at the Binga Dam, also in the same province, said hydrologist Elmer Caringal of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration .'Meanwhile, one gate of Ipo Dam has been opened at 0.15 meters to release excess water,' Caringal told The Manila Times in an exclusive interview.

Pagasa has issued a flood warning after the La Mesa dam in Quezon City was close to spilling level due to non-stop rain caused by the 'Falcon'-enhanced 'habagat.'Once the level hits 80.15 m NHWL, water from La Mesa will overflow and can swell the Tullahan River and possibly flood as far as the cities in northern Metro Manila.High risk areas are Barangay Fairview, Forest Hills Subdivision, Quirino Highway and Sta.
