Tourism and Transport Forum Chief Executive Margy Osmond says many Australians are choosing to travel domestically over the holiday period instead of overseas.
“For most people, this is all about seeing their immediate family,” Ms Osmond told Sky News Australia.
Other reasons for the high rate of domestic travel are high air fares and lack of airline capacity, she added.
