Former actor and now Leyte Representative Richard Gomez believes K-dramas or drama shows from South Korea should not be banned, but more airtime should be given to local shows and films.
Interviewed in Ormoc City, Gomez also said the government should provide more funding support for local movie and show makers to boost the local industry.
It was Senator Jinggoy Estrada who floated the idea of banning K-dramas, but later clarified that his statementon the lack of support to homegrown artists. He said he does not intend to file a bill that will prohibit foreign-made series and movies in the Philippines. Gomez said that Filipino actors are never short on talent, but the production value needs more funding support for high quality output.
Gomez then said that the Filipino talent's competitiveness could not thrive without enough funding support.
