Long live the sport sedan
In an age of crossovers and SUVs, the sedan market is shrinking day by day. Whether it’s subcompact or full-size, more consumers would rather have something with five doors. We can’t blame them, of course. Those vehicles are inherently more practical.
The same goes for the high-performance market. We’re seeing more fast crossovers these days, and if one wants a fast car, it’ll either be a two-door or a hot hatch. Simply put, there aren't a lot of sports sedans out there unless it comes from Europe and a few exeptions from Japan.MIAS 2024: A closer look at the P4.398-M BAIC B80 WagonBut Hyundai wants to challenge that perception.
It’s been a while since the local market got the Elantra. Well, it’s back with a bang because the N is the only way you’ll get it. We’re not complaining, though, as the hot sedan has some solid specs and numbers to back it up.The Hyundai Elantra N is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It’s good for 276hp and 392Nm of torque and shifts with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Before you worry about potentially wayward handling because of all the torque going to the front, you'll be pleased to know that it comes with a limited-slip differential. On top of that, the Elantra N comes with a unique suspension arrangement that keeps planted on the road or on the race track. 19-inch rims and wide tires give the car extra grip, while Brembo brakes reels it in.
Like what you see? The Elantra N will set you back P2,738,000—not bad for a high-performance sedan with nearly 300hp.See Also Read Next MIAS 2024: JAC’s revamped PH lineup includes a sub-P1.4-M seven-seater JS8 Pro SUV View other articles about:
