Meralco , the Philippines ' largest power distribution utility led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, recently participated in a mock election simulation organized by the Commission on Elections ( COMELEC ) in preparation for the upcoming May 12 midterm elections. The exercise aimed to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity service during the crucial democratic process.
Meralco crews and personnel engaged in simulated response scenarios to potential power disruptions that might occur during the elections. These scenarios included downed power lines, issues on the customer side (loadside trouble), and outages caused by fire. The mock drills highlighted Meralco's commitment to maintaining stable power supply, even under unforeseen circumstances.A key aspect of Meralco's preparations involves deploying generator sets and floodlights in strategically important locations throughout the election period. This proactive measure aims to mitigate potential power outages and ensure clear visibility at polling precincts.
