National COVID-19 Task Force chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. noted during the IATF-MEID meeting on Monday the sudden increase of COVID-19 infections in the two areas. In an interview with CNN Philippines' Rico Hizon on Monday night, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia attributed the sudden increase in COVID-19 cases to the city government's intensified testing efforts among residents.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament Member Zia Alonto Adiong said stricter measures were necessary to address local COVID-19 transmission in the province.
