Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stated his willingness to order the removal of US-supplied Typhon missiles deployed in the country if China agrees to halt its aggressive actions in the West Philippine Sea (WPS). Marcos made this bold statement in response to criticism from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the relocation of the missile launchers. He emphasized that the Philippines wouldn't comment on China's significantly more powerful missile systems.

The Chinese foreign ministry commented on the missiles following the relocation of the launchers from the Laoag airport to an undisclosed location in Luzon. “I don’t understand their comments on the Typhon Missile system–we don’t make any comments on their missile systems and their missile systems are a thousand times more powerful than what we have. So I don’t understand,” Marcos told reporters in an interview after the inauguration ceremony of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport alternate runway in Lapu-Lapu City on Thursday.
