MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said the continuous engagements between the Philippines and the United States would ensure 'agile' responses to the country's maritime dispute with China in the West Philippine Sea .This, as the President welcomed US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken in their visits to the Philippines amid the 'interesting political situation' in the US.
'Let me just start by sending our deepest condolences to all the victims of the recent typhoon and to say again, anything we can do to be of assistance, we welcome doing that,' Blinken told Marcos.Blinken said the upcoming 2+2 meeting is 'genuinely historic' and evidence of the 'steady drumbeat of very high level engagements' between the Philippines and the US.'This is the first time that the Philippines has hosted our 2+2.
