JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said he has discussed with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. the possibility of placing the Internal Affairs Service of the Philippine National Police under the direct control of the Department of the Interior and Local Government so that it can more effectively carry out its duty to investigate rogue police officers.The IAS is an independent, impartial and objective investigative and adjudicatory agency within the PNP.

Remulla cited the need for structural changes in the PNP amid the alleged involvement of police officers in various crimes particularly in the disappearance of cockfight enthusiasts last year.Aside from President Marcos, Remulla said he also discussed this possible move with DILG Secretary Benjamin 'Benhur' Abalos, Jr. and has raised the matter with Speaker Martin Romualdez.
