Mandaue City College (MCC) is preparing to resubmit its application for Institutional Recognition (IR) to the Commission on Higher Education (Ched) in February 2025. The goal is to restore students' eligibility for free tuition under the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST). MCC lost its IR in 2022, leading the City Government to cover tuition for over 2,000 students. Officials are confident in their resubmission, citing the college's compliance with most accreditation requirements and the recent issuance of a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for its nine-degree programs.
MANDAUE City College is set to resubmit its application for Institutional Recognition to the Commission on Higher Education by the last week of February to restore students’ access to free tuition under the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education .The City Government of Mandaue currently shoulders the tuition and other expenses of more than 2,000 students enrolled in MCC after the college lost its eligibility for free tuition in 2022.
Once these documents are completed and submitted, MCC officials are hopeful that Ched will grant their IR application.
