The municipal mayor of Datu Montawal, Maguindanao del Sur was wounded in an ambush perpetrated by two suspects riding in tandem on Wednesday night, Feb. 22, in Pasay City.
Col. Froilan Uy, city police chief, identified the victim as Mayor Ohto Caumbo Montawal of Tunggol Datu Montawal, Maguindanao del Sur.
Uy said Montawal is now in stable condition and was transferred to the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City. The city police chief said investigators are still reviewing the closed-circuit television footage in the vicinity of the shooting incident for the possible identification of the suspects.
