Maguindanao del Sur officials ask Comelec to make cops serve in polling places in 8 towns

Maguindanao del Sur's Provincial Peace and Order Council passes resolution asking that police officers from outside BARMM be deployed to the province during the October elections

Maguindanao del Sur falls under the jurisdiction of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao .

Pandag Mayor Mohajeran Balayman said the police officers can either come from the Davao or Soccsksargen regions to avoid familiarity between candidates and law enforcers. Nobleza said the police officers will be on standby mode in case there is a need for them to step in and serve as poll clerks, such as when the public school teachers are unable to perform their duties in the election precincts due to peace and order issues.
