The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that it has collected more than P1 billion from its online payment system alone, barely a year after it was implemented.
In a statement, LTO-National Capital Region West Regional Director Clarence Guinto said the agency was able to collect a total of P1.117 billion since the introduction of the online payment system for initial registration of brand-new vehicles in October 2018 to June 2019.
Apart from the LBP-ePP, the LTO NCR-West also introduced the Electronic Payment Assessment Tool , an online assessment system that automatically computes the exact amount due for a three-year registration. This was also mentioned by LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante adding that the reduced human intervention in the cash management system decreased opportunities for corrupt practices resulting in a more efficient payment collection in the agency.
