Rains will continue to shower parts of the country as another low pressure formed within the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday evening, the state-run weather bureau said.
The trough of the LPA, last spotted at 230 kilometers east-southeast of General Santos City as of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Senior weather specialist Chris Perez, however, said that the LPA was unlikely to become a tropical cyclone and may dissipate within 24 to 36 hours. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Palawan. Only localized thunderstorms are expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, the level in Angat dam, the primary source of water in Metro Manila, continued to rise on Wednesday to 161.08 meters, a 0.79 increase from the previous day. Angat has gone over the 160-meter critical level mark, accumulating a total increase of 3.12 meters since the entry of tropical depression “Egay” on Sunday.
