GMA Network finishes probe on Eddie Garcia’s accident via themanilatimes
GMA Network has completed its internal investigation on the accident that took the life of veteran actor Eddie Garcia but deferred to the wishes of the family “to be given a copy before we share the report with the public.”
The TV network issued the statement on Tuesday, nearly two weeks after Garcia, 90, died without regaining consciousness following his accident on the set of a series he was filming for the station on June 8. The actor died on June 20 at the Makati Medical Center. Doctors said Garcia sustained a neck fracture when he tripped on a cable during a shooting outside Metro Manila.
The network started an internal investigation right after the accident, which focused on “the absence of a medical team” at the shooting and said it was committed “to getting to the bottom of this unfortunate incident.” In a statement by the Directors’ Guild of the Philippines Inc. , it called the accident “a sad and urgent reminder to the film and television industries that safety protocols at work and on set are of paramount importance.”
