JOHOR BARU: A 32-year-old lorry driver has been fined RM30,000 for possessing 1,450 litres of subsidised diesel without a licence.
Moo Yit Lim pleaded guilty before Sessions Court judge Datuk Che Wan Zaidi Che Wan Ibrahim after the charge against him was read out in Mandarin here on Monday .
Based on the charge sheet, the accused was found in possession of the diesel in two white plastic barrels inside a lorry, at around 8pm along Jalan Setia 11/3 in Taman Setia Indah here on July 27 last year. This led to Moo being suspected of committing an offence under Regulation 3 of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974, for having scheduled controlled goods, either for wholesale or retail purposes, without a licence.
He was charged under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 punishable under Section 22 of the same Act.Che Wan Zaidi also ordered the lorry and the diesel worth RM3,480 to be forfeited. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry prosecution officers Muhamad Sabiq Muhamad Subri and Raja Nor Iklas Raja Ariff prosecuted the case while Moo was not represented.
