Senator Panfilo Lacson suggested that instead of giving gifts to public servants as appreciation for a job well done, the public should just make an official donation to the institution they work for. | DJEsguerraINQ
Republic Act No. 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, prohibits public officers from “directly or indirectly requesting or receiving any gift, present, share, percentage, or benefit, for himself or for any other person, in connection with any contract or transaction between the government and any other party.”
Lacson also stressed the need to draw a clear line between “gratitude” and “bribery” for laws such as the RAs 6713 and 3019 .
