Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Sunday asked presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo if he has switched roles and is now the Chinese embassy’s spokesperson.
Lacson wondered aloud after Panelo disclosed the text message he got from Chinese ambassador Zhao Jianhua in response to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana’s concerns about the presence of Chinese-manned Philippine offshore gaming operations sites near military and police camps.
“What I was pointing out in my tweet is not on the issue of whether or not there is logic in the Chinese ambassador’s statement,” the senator stressed. “Why would the country’s presidential spokesperson whose salary and other miscellaneous expenses are being paid out of our taxes take on the embassy spokesman’s job?” Lacson pointed out.
