THE 9th Annual Philippine Sustainability Movement Event, spearheaded by SeaTrace International and Marriott Manila, successfully concluded on Oct. 22.
The event brought together key stakeholders from the Philippine and international governments, embassies, chambers of commerce, environmental organizations and the private sector, particularly from the hotel and culinary industries.The gathering emphasized the importance of eco-friendly sourcing and sustainable supply chains, focusing on transforming food systems toward more sustainable practices.
As the central theme of this year's event was the transformation of food systems, the newly released Great Food Puzzle Philippine country report by the World Wildlife Fund was presented and key at the afternoon event.Ocean conservation and fisheries management also were key components of the event, with discussions focusing on improving fishery management, promoting sustainable seafood supply chains, and protecting marine ecosystems and endangered species.
