MANILA, Philippines: Gilas Pilipinas mainstay Kai Sotto continues his upward trajectory in Japan's B. League.The 7-foot-3 cager posted a career-best of 28 points in Yokohama B-Corsairs' 75-81 home game loss to Alvark Tokyo at the Yokohama International Pool on Saturday, March 30.Sotto shot efficiently from the field as he drained 12 his 15 shots while also pulling down six rebounds against Alvark, the second seed team in the East district with a 38-9 win-loss card.
The 21-year-old Sotto topped his previous best of 26 points which he did in a 90-85 overtime win over the Chiba Jets on February 11.Over the past five games where Yokohama went 2-3 , Sotto averaged 16.2 points and 6.8 rebounds.Sotto has been putting up 12.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in the ongoing 2024 season, but he's shown tremendous improvement ever since being loaned to Yokohama from the Hiroshima Dragonflies last December.
