MANILA, Philippines: Seven-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo didn't mind coming off the bench in San Miguel Beer's first two games that ended up with victories to kick off the Beermen's title defense for the PBA Philippine Cup.The 6-foot-10 Fajardo admitted he's playing on restricted minutes since just recently recovering from a left calf injury he sustained in last month's PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals.
The Cebuano big man said by looking at the teams in the tournament's first two and a half weeks, it's obvious that other teams have gotten stronger as they try to prevent the Beermen from defending their Philippine Cup crown.'We all need to step up because the competition in the league has really gone up,' he said in Filipino. 'Other teams really got stronger so we need to also level up our play and we need every win we can get to grab a twice-to-beat advantage.
