The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines announced two grant contracts totaling $138,828 under the 'Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects' initiative. These grants will fund the procurement of a portable X-ray machine for tuberculosis screening in Muntinlupa City and provide new equipment for livelihood programs run by Tahanang Walang Hagdanan Inc. (TWHI) for persons with disabilities.
AMB. Kazuya Endo signed on January 23 at his official residence two grant contracts under the “Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects 1”.
Through the GGP, the Embassy of Japan said the city will be able to procure a mobile X-ray machine, which will help enhance TB screening activities for high-risk groups and expand medical services.THE grant amount of $55,299 will support Tahanang Walang Hagdanan Inc. in providing training and employment opportunities to some 272 persons with disabilities and their families through their livelihood programs that involve metalworking, woodworking, sewing and packaging operations.
Endo stated that GGP has the flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing needs of local communities and foster sustainable growth. He also emphasized that “the partnerships nurtured between the embassy and proponents over the years are one of many reflections of the strengthening ties between Japan and the Philippines.”
