International Master (IM) Daniel Quizon of Dasmariñas, Cavite topped the 2nd Gov. Henry Oaminal Open Rapid Chess Tournament that ended on Wednesday at AYA Hotel and Residences in Clarin, Misamis Occidental.
International Master Daniel Quizon of Dasmariñas, Cavite topped the 2nd Gov. Henry Oaminal Open Rapid Chess Tournament that ended on Wednesday at AYA Hotel and Residences in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. Quizon held IM Michael Concio Jr., also of Dasmariñas, to a draw in the ninth and final round of the tournament to finish with 7.5 points.
The tournament, which was graced by chess hall-of-famer GM Eugene Torre during the opening and awarding ceremonies, was part of the celebration for the 76th Ozamiz City Charter Anniversary and feast of Nuestra Sra. dela Concepcion y del Triunfo de Migpangi. It was organized by Asenso Misamis Occidental Federated Chess Association in coordination with the provincial government of Misamis Occidental. National Master Joey Albert Florendo of Zamboanga City and Rodney Opada of Ozamis City scored 7.
