The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced that Iloilo International Airport has fully resumed normal operations following a temporary closure for urgent safety repairs. The closure was necessary to address two potholes detected on Runway 02, ensuring the highest safety standards for passengers and airline operations. Airport officials met with Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas to discuss the brief operational interruption.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines on Monday announced that Iloilo International Airport has fully resumed normal operations following the temporary closure of its runway for urgent safety repairs.
It said the temporary closure was a necessary measure to facilitate critical runway repairs, ensuring the highest standards of safety for passengers and airline operations.Airport Manager Manuela Luisa Palma, along with a CAAP safety officer and other airport officials and supervisors, met with Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas on Monday to discuss the brief operational interruption at the airport.
On Sunday, the airport was closed due to two potholes detected on Runway 02. Immediate action was taken to prioritize the safety of passengers, flight crews, and aircraft. “We understand that this temporary closure may inconvenience travelers and affect the local economy. However, the safety of our passengers, crew, and aircraft remains our top priority,” said Palma.
A Notice to Airmen was issued to promptly inform airlines and stakeholders about the planned repairs.
