Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla assures that the massive Iglesia Ni Cristo rally supporting President Marcos Jr. will not influence the ongoing investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) into alleged threats made by Vice President Sara Duterte against the President and other prominent figures.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated on Tuesday that the recent Iglesia Ni Cristo rally will not influence the National Bureau of Investigation's (NBI) inquiry into the alleged threat made by Vice President Sara Duterte against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other figures. Remulla emphasized that the law treats everyone equally and that the NBI cannot grant special treatment to anyone based on their position.

He added that while he respects the participants' freedom of expression, he is not concerned about the rally's intentions. \The rally, which police estimated drew 1.8 million people nationwide, aimed to demonstrate support for Marcos' stance against impeaching Duterte. However, INC spokesperson Edwil Zabala claimed the rally was for peace and not politically motivated. Remulla reiterated that the NBI will submit its report to the Department of Justice shortly, emphasizing that the investigation will be conducted based on the merits of the case. \Duterte is being investigated for alleged grave threats under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and potential violations of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, following her alleged call for the President, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez to be killed. She has declined to appear before the NBI, asserting she does not anticipate fairness from the agency. Duterte previously stated that her remarks against the First Couple and Romualdez were taken out of context.
