The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases will meet to discuss measures on how to deal with the resurgence of Covid-19 in China, the Department of Health said on Friday, Dec. 30.It noted that the recommendations are subject to approval by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“Currently, as per our guidelines, foreign travelers who are not fully vaccinated are required to present a negative pre-departure antigen or RT-PCR test results before travel or upon arrival,” the DOH said. To strengthen its existing measures, the DOH instructed the Bureau of Quarantine to intensify quarantine protocols, such as heightened surveillance of all respiratory symptoms in all travelers and conveyances coming from China.
This includes a thorough review of the Maritime Declaration of Health and the health section of the Aircraft General Declaration, reporting of intercepted symptomatic passengers during arrival screening, submission of reports of travelers with Covid-19 from point of entry, and other information dissemination efforts.
Moreover, the DOH vowed to continue to monitor the global situation of Covid-19 and will announce further developments in the coming days.
