Deputy Minority Leader France Castro calls for action on pending impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, urging House leadership to forward them to the justice panel.
Deputy Minority Leader France Castro has urged the House leadership to address the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte . The complaints, which have remained in the Office of Secretary General Reginald Velasco since December 2024, should be forwarded to Speaker Martin Romualdez for referral to the justice panel. Castro and fellow party-list Reps. Arlene Brosas of Gabriela and Raoul Manuel of Kabataan support the second complaint filed by left-leaning organizations.
Castro emphasized the need for action, stating that the public awaits the impeachment proceedings. Duterte has denied any misuse of public funds, characterizing the impeachment as a political attack. Castro also cautioned against the House leadership being influenced by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.'s previous statement discouraging impeachment efforts against the Vice President, as well as potential opposition from religious groups. She stressed the importance of holding officials accountable for corruption
