Fraudsters are phoning elderly people, telling them their grandchildren are in jail, and convincing them to hand over 'bail money'
Each instance is a little bit different, but the gist is the same: A fraudster phones an elderly person, tells them their grandchild is in jail, and convinces them to hand over thousands of dollars in "bail money."
"In several cases the culprit has actually provided a name and rank of an officer," the release states.Below is the full press release from police:
