Residents disobeying a school crossing stop sign can face a fine of $365 and receive four demerit points on driver's licence
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the City of Sault Ste. Marie continue to receive complaints about drivers ignoring school crossing guards holding stop signs.
It's such a problem that Sault police issued a news release this week, reminding everyone to obey crossing guards near city schools or face serious consequences. "If you are found disobeying a school crossing stop sign, you can face a fine of $365 and receive four demerit points on your licence," the release warns.
"We all play a part to keep the young people and crossing guards in our community safe. Please, do your part to keep our young people and crossing guards safe."
