A 73-year-old grandfather in Cebu City has been arrested for allegedly molesting his 11-year-old granddaughter. The incident occurred on December 30, 2024, while the child's mother was away. According to the suspect's initial statement, he claimed that he was overcome with an urge and inappropriately touched the child because she was alone in the house.
The victim, however, told her mother about the incident, stating that her grandfather led her to a room, gave her P100, and sexually assaulted her despite her resistance. The victim's mother immediately reported the incident to the police and had her father arrested. Medical tests confirmed that the child was sexually abused, and statutory rape charges will be filed against the suspect
