Lloyd Go rallies with three birdies on the last five holes to tie dino Villanueva for the lead in the opening round of The Country Club Invitational 2025. Clyde Mondilla sits in third, while Aidric Chan and Gwon Minwook share fourth.

Lloyd Go carded a three-under 69 on Tuesday, seizing a share of the lead with Dino Villanueva in the opening round of The Country Club Invitational 2025 at the TCC course in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Go birdied three of his last five holes to overcome blustery conditions, matching Villanueva, who dominated the front nine with a five-under 31. Clyde Mondilla , despite a solid round of 70, lamented missed opportunities on the long holes, settling for solo third.

Aidric Chan and Gwon Minwook shared fourth place with 71s, keeping the leaderboard tight in the P6 million championship. Villanueva's early dominance included four consecutive birdies from the second hole, taking the spotlight in the 20th staging of the annual event. His highlight came at the fourth hole where he pitched his wedge to within a foot for birdie after a 135-yard approach. Despite back-to-back bogeys on the 13th and 14th holes, Villanueva remained optimistic, stating his focus on playing one shot at a time. Mondilla, the 2019 Philippine Open champion, played a superb round with five birdies against three bogeys, but rued his inability to capitalize on the par-5s.Gwon Minwook briefly surged to the top with a birdie on the 14th hole, tying Villanueva at four-under, before struggling to hold on as the winds intensified. Three-time TCC Invitational champion Angelo Que finished with a one-over 73, tied for sixth with Ryan Monsalve and Nilo Salahog. Defending champion Tony Lascuña, battling a left arm injury, struggled to a 77, hampered by a double-bogey on the ninth hole. Despite the challenging conditions, Lascuña expressed satisfaction with his score, stating he wouldn't feel too bad shooting five-over on such a difficult course
