Gilas Pilipinas has commenced its training for the final window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers. The team held a brief training camp at the Inspire Sports Academy before flying to Doha, Qatar for upcoming matches.
Gilas Pilipinas has formally begun its preparations for the third and final window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers, convening for a brief training camp at the Inspire Sports Academy on Feb. 11 and 12 before flying to Doha , Qatar on Feb. 13.
However, Gilas team manager Alfrancis Chua clarified that Abarrientos and Cu are not part of the team and will only be joining the Inspire camp largely due to their familiarity to the Cone’s system and the Nationals missing some of their players. Tamayo is flying directly from Korea to Qatar while Newsome will be coming from Taiwan where his Bolts are still to play an EASL game against New Taipei Kings on Wednesday, Feb 12.
“Ang mangyayari 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 uwi kami ng gabi. And then alis na ulit ng umaga for Taiwan,” said Chua who opted to have the team return to Manila first, instead of getting a direct flight from Doha to Taipei.
