WITH the apprehension of street dwellers in Cebu City, the Cebu Environmental Sanitation and Enforcers Team calls for stricter enforcement of the anti-mendicancy law.Mary Grace Luardo, Ceset head, told SunStar Cebu that the team’s mandate is not to merely clean garbage or sweep the streets.“We are environmental enforcers, law enforcers. Meanwhile, the Ceset head expressed frustrations about encountering garbage and human waste left by street dwellers during their monitoring.“Maghugaw-hugaw pa sa kadalanan, magbilin basura, tae, ihi; paita kaayo ,” she said.Luardo said the City provides livelihood programs to street dwellers.“But ang kaso , they are hesitant to accept it because they want to be on the streets. It’s easy for them to get money in the public man,” she said.
