A fourth child taking a dip at a popular swimming spot at K'gari (Fraser Island) has been airlifted to hospital with suspected Irukandji jellyfish stings.

On Wednesday afternoon a boy was swimming in a creek on the western side of the island, when he was stung on the upper leg by the suspected deadly jellyfish.

The previous day three girls were flown to hospital, in two separate incidents, with suspected Irukandji stings. “The chopper was tasked on the first mission at around 11am,” a RACQ LifeFlight Rescue spokesperson said in a statement.“The girl was in a stable condition when she was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital, under the care of the QAS Flight Paramedic.”

“Local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated them at the scene, before transporting them to a helipad at Orchid Beach, where they were met by the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter and crew.”
