Three young girls taking a dip at a popular swimming spot at K'gari (Fraser Island) have been airlifted to hospital with suspected Irukandji jellyfish stings.
“The pilot landed the aircraft on a sandbar close to where the child had been stung while swimming near a popular campsite.
At 2:40pm two young sisters were swimming at the same location on the western side of the island when they were also likely stung. A primary school-aged girl was the first to be flown to Hervey Bay Hospital after she was stung on the upper chest just after 10:30am on Tuesday. Picture: RACQ LifeFlight Rescue.
“Local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated them at the scene, before transporting them to a helipad at Orchid Beach, where they were met by the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter and crew.”
