Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, who won bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, will be honored with the President's Award at the SMC-PSA Awards Night.
Two Filipino female boxers, Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, will receive the President's Award at the 2024 San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sports writers Association (SMC-PSA) Awards Night on January 27th at the Manila Hotel. Petecio and Villegas each won bronze medals in the women's 57kg and 50kg weight classes, respectively, at the 2024 Paris Olympics . These medals contributed to the Philippines' best-ever performance at the Games, securing a total of four medals.
Gymnast Carlos Yulo, who won two gold medals in Paris, will be awarded the highest honor, Athlete of the Year, during the same event. Petecio's bronze medal is her second Olympic medal, adding to the silver she won at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This achievement makes her the first Filipino boxer to achieve back-to-back podium finishes at the Games
