It was actually Japan’s dominant 7-0 victory in Group D that helped the Philippines reach the second round of the continental meet due to its superior goal differential as there were only three best second-placed spots up for grabs. Bolden opened the scoring for the third time in the tournament for the Filipinas before Eggesvik delivered a brace in a matter of one minute to completely lift the squad past the Myanmar side.
