A multiple-vehicle collision on National Highway in Davao City resulted in four fatalities and two injuries.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is currently investigating a fatal collision involving two vans on National Highway in Binugao, Toril District. The incident occurred on January 4, 2025, resulting in the deaths of four passengers and injuring two others, who are currently being treated at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

According to initial reports from Toril Police, the accident happened when one of the drivers, identified as Kadaffy Salik from Kabacan, Cotabato, lost control of his vehicle and veered into the oncoming lane. Salik's van collided with another van carrying passengers who were returning from a beach outing in Samal, Davao del Norte. The DCPO stated that Salik may have been speeding or experienced a mechanical malfunction, leading to the loss of control of his vehicle. The incident, which was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, has since gone viral online. The video shows Salik crossing into the opposite lane before colliding with Lastimoso's van. The DCPO identified the victims as Remie Centena, Edna Centena, Mary Joy Abuda Lastimoso, and Sherlyn Altimo. All were passengers in the van driven by Omar Lastimoso, who also hailed from Cotabato City. Both drivers have been brought to the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) for proper disposition while authorities await potential charges against them
