A broken water line at Highbury Education Centre in New Minas caused by extremely cold temperatures caused the temporary relocation of some students. KIRK STARRATTNEW MINAS, N.S. — Extremely cold temperatures experienced over the weekend of Feb. 4 and 5 caused problems at two Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education schools.

AVRCE communications and FOIPOP officer Kristen Loyst said a sprinkler head was damaged at Port Williams Elementary School because of the cold. There wasn’t much impact on students, as classes were able to continue as usual on Monday, Feb. 6. She said on Feb. 8 that the Grade 10 to 12 program “has been temporarily relocated to the Louis Millett Centre for the remainder of this week to allow time for cleanup.”
