European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived at the Malacañan Palace on Monday to have a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. To recall, Marcos met the EU leader during the EU-ASEAN Commemorative Summit in December 2022 in Brussels, Belgium. Von Der Leyen's visit is expected to "give a new impetus to the EU-Philippines bilateral relations and engage in discussions on matters of mutual interest, in particular in the ears of trade, the green and digital transition and security.”
The two leaders will discuss trade, investment, and Global Gateway cooperation and the EU’s Global Gateway Strategy.
