THE 39th anniversary of the 1986 EDSA 'revolution' came and went on Feb. 25 without giving us a clear view of its authentic place in the lives of our people.Some of us believe ' EDSA ' should be memorialized because it ousted Ferdinand Marcos Sr., a 'president/dictator' for 21 years. In their opinion, this was the best thing that ever happened to the Philippines.
''Second, Marcos, through various authorized monopolies operated by his friends, was running the country as if it were his personal property, strangling any chance of a competitive private sector. Structural change in the interest of a healthy economy was essential.'Third was the problem of succession. Marcos' health was poor: how poor we did not know.
