President Duterte defends Duque amid calls to replace the health chief

"Sabi ko sa kanya: ‘Do everything you can' . I take full responsibility, na ang utos ko na mag-- dalian mo. Wala akong pakialam kung saan ka magkuha, magnakaw ka and I remember saying it. I do not care whether you go and steal, borrow or kill a person to get what -- what needs to be done,” ani Duterte.
Gabi ng Lunes nang ipanawagan ng Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines, Inc na palitan si Duque sa puwesto, sa akusasyong pumalpak ito sa kampanya kontra sa coronavirus. Sinabi na rin ng Malacanang na maaaring kasuhan ng profiteering ang sinasabing mag-asawang negosyante na mataas umano ang siningil sa mga testing equipment dahil sila lang ang supplier nito sa bansa.
Si Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, sinabi na hindi na siya magtataka kung may patuloy na pangungurakot dahil sa palakad umano ng gobyerno. "I hope the statement of the President does not in any manner mean to absolve Sec. Duque. I call for a fair and impartial investigation despite the President’s pronouncement. These are taxpayers’ money we’re talking about here - to the tune of billions pesos getting wasted due to corruption or gross negligence," ani Drilon.
