The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines has introduced an accreditation program for individual construction workers such as plumbers, painters, and masons. For a fee of P500, workers can obtain DTI accreditation, enhancing their credibility and job prospects. The program aims to facilitate easier access for homeowners and small-scale clients to find qualified workers for minor repairs and renovations. The DTI will monitor registrations and track the number of accredited workers as part of its efforts to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and regulate the growing e-commerce market for services.
The Department of Trade and Industry asked individual construction workers such as plumbers, painters and masons to register for official accreditation.
The program, which targets individual tradespeople who may not need to work under large contractors, allows homeowners and small-scale clients to easily find accredited workers for minor repairs and renovations, the agency said. The DTI said it would monitor registrations and track the number of accredited workers as part of its broader efforts to enhance opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises .
