To strengthen disaster preparedness across Iloilo and Aklan, the Department of Public Works and Highways Western Visayas constructed several new multi-purpose buildings to enhance community resilience and provide essential resources for local governance and community events.
Among the recently completed projects is a two-story building in Barangay Poblacion’s plaza in Malinao. This P4.9 million facility spans 206 square meters and includes a roof deck, balcony, and six restrooms, providing a safe, versatile space for community events and shelter. Another major addition is the multi-purpose building in Balete, Aklan, valued at P12 million. Designed for safety and functionality, the building is equipped with hardscapes, railings, fire alarm systems, auxiliary systems, and CCTV.
